Ombudsperson

The Ombudsperson is an independent, impartial authority appointed by ABVSU to address unresolved grievances of students.

Role & Authority

The Ombudsperson serves as the appellate authority for grievances that remain unresolved by the Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC). The Ombudsperson functions independently and impartially, ensuring fair resolution of disputes between students and the university.

Functions

  • Receive and address grievances referred by the SGRC or directly from students.
  • Conduct inquiries into complaints related to academic, administrative, or infrastructural issues.
  • Recommend appropriate remedial actions to the university authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with UGC regulations and university policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proceedings and records.

Scope of Grievances

  • Unfair evaluation or examination practices.
  • Delay in scholarship or financial aid disbursement.
  • Discriminatory treatment based on caste, gender, religion, or disability.
  • Harassment or ragging issues not resolved at committee level.
  • Fee-related disputes or refund issues.
  • Any other matter that affects students' rights and welfare.

How to Approach

Students may approach the Ombudsperson in writing, either by email or through the university's official grievance portal. The complaint should include details of the grievance, steps already taken, and supporting documents if any.
